Born in Brighton, Jackie has a passion for history and has worked as a freelance guide at the Royal Pavilion, also in education at Preston Manor and the Brighton Museum, since 2000. Since that time, she’s also taught in adult education, from craft based classes on to local history, running CCE courses for the University of Sussex on local architecture and researching the history of houses. As part of the Brighton Festival Fringe in May since 2001, Jackie has conducted tours of Brighton Station. Other long standing tours Jackie has initiated, researched and given in historical working buildings are Palmeira Mansions and the Old Ship Hotel. Jackie has also been lecturing since 2001, addressing numerous organizations, societies and universities around the country and abroad on subjects ranging from pleasure piers to the Royal Pavilion, becoming a NADFAS lecturer in 2003. Jackie has also been employed by the West Pier Trust giving seafront tours and school visits and has worked on various local history projects and books, such as the Heritage Lottery Funded project ‘Floating Memories.’ You’ll find her website here.
